Proposal for a Solar farm and energy system

Pennon Group is developing proposals for a solar farm and energy storage system, situated north of Dunfermline. The site was formerly an open-cast coal mine. The land has been fully remediated by the land-owner and it’s development now as a solar farm will be a major step towards a sustainable future for a growing city. A planning application was submitted to the Local Planning Authority in April 2022 following an extensive local public consultation.

The project will be able to supply the electricity needs of over 6,500 homes at peak power

Community consultation

We submitted a Proposal of Application Notice (PAN) to Fife Council to start the important process of engaging with the local community while we continue our investigations and detailed designs. We held online consultation meetings on February 25th & March 25th 2021 and thank you to all the residents and community representatives who took part and provided feedback on the plans. This website will be kept updated throughout the development process to keep the community informed on our plans and to receive feedback.
